HOW IT STARTED
Shrimp Prawn Seafood’s humble beginnings started from a stall at Chatuchak SG @ Turf City Grand Stand. It was an idea that was put into action by Chef Owner Alvin Tai. He was truly enamoured by the taste of the Goong Ob Woon Sen, so much that he made 13 trips to Bangkok over a span of 2 years just to master the recipe and learn from the locals there.
Chef Alvin’s passion, persistence and love for cooking developed him to refine the taste further, using only premium-grade ingredients while keeping its authentic flavour with fresh imports of ingredients from Thailand, making it well-loved among Singaporeans.
When he was forced to close the stall at Chatuchak SG due to Covid-19 in early 2020, many people urged him to open a permanent stall because they would love to experience it again.
Many are impressed with the quality and attention to detail made on the rendition of Goong Ob Woon Sen, also known as Steelpot Prawn Vermicelli. Chef Alvin then decided to open the restaurant at Boat Quay, one of the iconic spots in Singapore.
Today at Shrimp Prawn Seafood, we are the first restaurant in Singapore that specializes in Seafood Steelpot Vermicelli.

Shrimp Prawn Seafood was also awarded Singapore Best Food 2022. Multiple International YouTubers & local platforms have also reached out to feature the restaurant, such as Mike Chen, Ghib Ojisan, Singapore Tourism Board and many more. Chef Alvin Tai was also awarded with the Singapore SME 500 Award & Singapore
Entrepreneur 100 Award in 2022.
